Tet Take Two and Weekend Re-cap

Saturday evening, we attended our second celebration for Tet. This time we accompanied Kenny, Michael's co-worker from Vietnam to a Vietnamese Catholic church. The Tet party took place in the basement of a very old church in Cincinnati. This is the outside of the church:

We arrived about an hour and a half after the Tet Party began and the show was going on. There were several short 'acts' on stage that involved singing, dancing (some traditional-- others not-so-traditional) which had a variety show feel. The front of the room had the stage, the sides offered booths of homemade Vietnamese food, and towards the back there were tables to sit, watch the show and celebrate with family and friends. The room was PACKED with people celebtrating the New Year. In fact, there was not a table that was unoccupied-- not even an empty chair remained!! We walked around the room, meeting Kenny's friends and ended up watching the show and festivities from the balcony where there was some available seating. It was hard to take (good) pictures as there were so many people,etc-- but here are a few from that night. Sorry for the poor picture quality!!

Iyla-- up WAY too late-- 2 hours past her bedtime!!

The crowd was incredibly friendly and welcoming and we look forward to going back next year!!

Sunday, we stayed around the house (after doing our regular chores) and played around the house with Iyla. It was a nice quiet way to end a busy weekend!!!
