Not only is Iyla's walking improving, her abilities to speak and communicate are also growing leaps and bounds.
Here is a list of Iyla's commonly used words-- in no particular order:
-Ball (Sounds a bit like BAW-- but discernible especially as she is feverishly pointing out all the balls and balloons in her line of vision)
-Bird (Iyla has a MAJOR crush on birds-- just loves those feathered creatures)
-Banana (Pronounced-- Nanana and generally accompanied by pointing as well)
How about a little story?
Let's see, Iyla what would you like for breakfast? Response: NA-NA-NA (pointing to the fruit bowl) Obviously, the kid would like some cereal. Right?!?
-Hi (This kid has this one DOWN-- she says it so well out in public that people stop and ask her follow-up questions-- no joke!)
-Bye-Bye (Most of the time includes a little wave too. More on this one in a later post!)
-Cook-Cook (For cookie- of course!)
-Ga-Ga (For cracker-- not confusing at all right!?!?-- This one won't make you tear your hair out searching for what it is the child wants or anything!?!?)
-Ba-Ba (For bottle-- easy peasy)
-Out (As in I want OUT of this high chair!)
-Up (Let's use this one in a typical Iyla sentence, "Ma-ma-ma-- UP"-- no problem kid-I got it!)
-Uh-Oh (No explanation required there-- usually follows something that she has FLUNG to the earth)
-Go Ge(t) (I LOVE being told by my one-year old to go get an object after she has thrown it on the floor! (see Uh Oh)

-And of course- Mama, Dada, e-MA (Emma-the dog), dog and a few others I am surely forgetting)
Iyla also has signs-- she uses the ASL (American Sign Language) for MORE, All done (and she says All at the same time!), milk (usually says Ba-ba too), and water.

We are so proud of our (now verbose) daughter!!

Thanks so much for the Iyla language guide! She is becoming quite the walking/talking/hair-brushing force to be reckoned with! Your posts are so incredibly creative--reading the daily updates are a highlight of my day :-)
Love to all,
Grandma Lori
Thanks Mom!!!
She's got the basics down. Now she needs to start working on "Auntie Michelle"!
